View Full Version : Need help with upgrade.

Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade to Reason 8 and I got to the point where it wants to pull the extra files for instruments like the softtube amps and the message displayed is that it can't connect either Propellerhead server. Now I can't even use my Reason 7 projects either. It seems every time I try to upgrade I have problems. Also it used to be when u upgraded u got rid of the older version first but now u don't uninstall it until the new version is installed. What's the reason behind that? I need help ASAP. Thx for this.

I almost forgot that I also couldn't get authorizer to run either.

I'm hooked in with Balance and Balance should be enough right? Maybe I'm wrong.

That didn't work. It says it can't communicate with the propellerhead serverserver

Is your internet connection to that machine solid?

There is this microsoft thing that you need to have i reckon. Something in the manner of "silverlight". Cant recall what was the actual name.
Its some piece of driver/ software that i guess deal with security

Still can't connect to propellerhead server. So I can't upgrade and I will definitely keep my Reason 7. I don't know what to do. I've contacted support but there is no solution so far.

Did you try to UN-install R7 first, and then install R8?

I had problems with my upgrade too.. During install I got some funny "unexpected exception" error message
I contacted props support. They asked me a few Q then they gave me a special variant with logging capabilities.
I collected the logs and sent them to them and they found out that due to that I moved my Windows music directory to a NAS (to save space on my SSD), the install didnt bite (templates)
SO.. changed my directory back to C drive and install was ok.

All I am saying is that props should be able to help out. I think their support is very good but somewhat slow now and then
