    A few of my most recent works...

    I don't know why I thought this Forum had closed down. I came back today with the same login credentials, thinking it was gone - and it wasn't... must be me...?

    OK - here's a few of my more recent works for constructivisms;

    Thanks for sharing. In listening to all them from a mixing stand point I like the dynamic range of all of them there are all equal, did not have to move my volume fader and there is nice headroom. Question I am wondering if you mastered any of these song, all the songs IMHO seem to be missing a bit of air, this can be hard with tons of synths because you have a ton of stuff battling for the same frequency ranges but it is do able with EQ and mastering the songs using Mid/Side processing.

    From a musical stand point I like them all. Good musical structures, beats and chord progressions.

    Thanks Matt - I agree that there is a lot in the mid-range in all of them. The only other way (non-Reason) for me to filter them out is maybe to export each track/instrument and then mix them in Audacity. For some of those works, thats about 30 tracks a piece... I think I'll look at the EQ in Reason for each track and see what can be done.

    EDIT: I've re-EQ'd the first one which, although you won't be able to compare it (It's been overwritten on SC), the range is wider, the percussion sharper - and I've used some panning techniques to throw in some space, too:

    Hello Adam, I checked out that track and I hear more air and also see the track is a bit more hot, it lost a little of it's dynamic range. I have a setting on my mixer that I gauge everything I make and listen to, it helps me compare all audio very easy. I have found that music with great dynamic range most often comes from music that is mixed great. Checking dynamic range can point out problems in a mix here how.

    When listening to good fundamentally mixed songs you can start with the volume low and hear everything equally in the mix the same as when you turn it up. When I say "equally" this means there are not elements of the mix that mask or fight for space in a frequency range but rather they live equally together because of their definition. This has more to do with frequency than volume.

    When listening to a song with mixing problems when the volume is low you most likely will hear the problem in the mix that will be more pronounced when you raise the volume, it really is easy to hear because it is masking everything else.

    Equality is the name of the game.

    Just know I think your music and mixing is good but here in the music forum it is all about learning in a constructive respectful way so I thought I would let you know what I hear and also offer some possible knowledge...cheers!
